Information

Stuartholme School stands on very high ground overlooking Toowong and the city. The traditions of the school date back to France in 1800 with the establishment of the Society of the Sacred Heart, an order dedicated to educating Catholic girls. The six founding sisters arrived in Brisbane in January 1917 and established themselves in Annerley. Later that year the Archbishop purchased the western suburbs property of the late Richard W Stuart for a school. Stuartholme school was transferred to the Society in 1918 at a cost of £3000 and the foundation stone laid and blessed the following year. The school opened to pupils on 1 March 1920.
